Trading places at Friendz

It is harder than I tought!

If there is something we are completely sure about, is that Friendz works differently compared to other companies. From day one on, our mission was to create a new work-philosophy to be integrated with the classic “motivation/result-oriented/ teamwork” approach. Our focus was on innovation and the creation of a solid, cohesive and motivated team.

We always had a soft spot for our team because it really means everything to us: when we started, just three crazy dreamers with a mission, we would have never imagined to deserve the trust of other people, investing their time and energy on our project. And look at us now: our efforts have been paid off and the team counts 30 talented employees working in our office! Every member jumped onboard with enthusiasm, completely embracing the roles assigned within the company and keeping on learning from the colleagues, day after day. It was one of Friendz main concern, in fact, that people with very different backgrounds and skills would have maintain the flexibility and the humility to adapt and to keep on growing, professionally and personally speaking.

For this reason, today, we decided to abandon our chair at the desk and our tasks in order to live for 8 hours in a colleague’s shoes. The well-known responsibilities gave way, with great fear, to the unexpected, stepping outside the comfort zone.

We organized this change of roles very accurately and whit a hint of folly, as usual!

The night before the experiment, all the members of the team received an email revealing their new identity for the day after.

Once everybody arrived to the office and pinned a post it with the new name on the t-shirt, the game began. The team were formed and the first daily tasks to be handled started to arrive.

The creatives found themselves handling the community, the accounts tried to figure the logic behind the store’s orders placement, the community managers were involved with never ending calls with clients and so on…

Who are you today?

We cannot deny that there were some moments of discomfort too, but they were part of the plan! Every person of our team, in fact, was assigned to a very different role and was asked to stand on his own two feet to deliver results. Friendz was supposed to work efficiently as usual, regardless of our experiment!

We took difficult decisions based on our good sense and we stood responsibilities that we felt super heavy on our shoulder. But, again, thanks to the teamwork and continuous support, we survived the day.

With a pat on the back and a great sense of satisfaction, the clock ticked 6:30 p.m. announcing the end of the “parallel life” game here at Friendz.

Relieved that "tomorrow we will be back to normal, with our normal roles, and our normal tasks, in our normal comfort zone" all the members of the Friendz family were asked to write down feedback about their day in a colleague's shoes. Moreover, a note on how other people performed on their behalf was also required.

Working with new deskmates has never been so fun

Finishing with an high note, we decided to reward the two employees who proved themselves more capable to adapt and exceed in this advert situation!

This trial was essential to understand that nothing should never be given for granted and that is always a good time to say “I am wrong” and to start over again. It was also a great opportunity to value again the support our colleagues are providing us with everyday, when we need it the most.

Everybody challenged, everybody happy, everybody satisfied. This is our philosophy and how we live at Friendz. If you love it and you started wondering about joining us, follow the enthusiasm push and download the app!
