The path of the woman warrior

I honor my sisters who have stepped out of societal scripting for women to trust their own inner knowing that their intuitive wisdom, innate beauty, and powerful sensuality could make a difference in the quality of life in the world. This path has been scarred with invalidation, violence, and death as women have asserted their beliefs for equality in being seen, heard, and respected for their concern for humane and equal treatment of themselves and humankind.

Our intuitiveness as women knows of a time when women and men lived as equals with respect for the feminine qualities of compassion, nurturing, and nonviolence. As Marianne Williamson states in A Woman’s Worth, “archaeological evidence now argues for the existence of a twenty-thousand-year period of history when men and women lived as equals, with neither sex dominating the other.”

The current social structure which has been in place for thousands of years negates the feminine principles for the masculine model of aggression, domination, and control. The path we must walk as women weaves through the depths of patriarchal fear of loss of control and of honoring and embracing the beauty and sensuality of the feminine. To feel, to nurture and be nurtured, and to be vulnerable is seen as a weakness, when in truth it is a sign of strength in both sexes!

Today, the path is broader and more traveled, but it tests the warrior qualities of any woman who chooses to travel the distance. Whenever any woman steps onto this path, she intuitively knows the pain, the suffering and the silencing of her sisters who have walked before her. We have walked this path together in many lifetimes seeking freedom of expression for women.

It is this quest that has created the feminine warrior. She does not do battle in fatigues armed with weapons of cold steel. She engages you with her wit, her wisdom, her sincere caring, and her sensuality. She confronts you on the societal illusions and the patriarchal dogma that do not serve humankind. She fights for what she knows will have positive impact on all the children of Grandmother Earth: the minerals, the plants, the animals, and humans. She has touched her own pain allowing her to embrace you in your times of turmoil, loss, and change. The force that compels her to action is knowing who she is as a woman, trusting her journey, and being passionate about making a difference independent of the good and bad opinions of others.

As female warriors, we must take the initiative to heal and bridge the gap between the sexes. We do not become the victim, but educate ourselves about the differences in the sexes, the societal scripting that has harmed both men and women, and the energy choreography between the sexes. Women have the womb. Women hold the space for men to learn how to open themselves up to take responsibility for clear communication, harmony, and a heart connection. Men do not have a womb, which holds a mirror of self reflection, to show them how to be more receptive. We mirror to them as women the gift of receptivity. Women must become the initiator, the receptacle, and the teacher.

As you walk this path with your sisters, know that you have the support, love, and wisdom of those who have ventured before you. Embrace the knowledge that life is a journey, and it is on this journey that your spirit coaxes you to question life and to push your edges to become more than you thought you could become. Trust your intuition, your body knowing, to guide you on your path. Commit to living life with fullness and passion each day. Commit to giving voice to what you know must change for humankind to survive.

Continue the journey that your sisters held close to their hearts. It is your destiny to claim the right to be seen, be heard, and be respected for your feminine principles. Your wombs not only birth children, but birth you as wise women able to shine a mirror of self reflection for a kinder, gentler world.

Grandmother Earth is crying for the devastation of her resources and her children. The patriarchal system has raped and plundered the womb of Grandmother Earth and soaked her with the blood of her children. History has shown us that men and women can inhabit the planet together without domination of one over the other. Reach deep into your wombs. Remember the cries of your sisters. Hear them, feel them, and know that they are you.
