Evasive Driving

Evasive or Defensive driving is a method of tactical procedures adopted while driving through hostile conditions. Generally the objective would be to get away from pursuers or to safely extract an object or a person. This type of training is taught extensively to most special forces and intelligence agents and is considered an essential tool for their survival. Thousands of taxpayers’ money is spent on teaching these techniques to the elite forces of their respective nations.

An example that will be familiar to you would be the car chase seen in Chris Hemsworth’s recent movie Extraction. It involves J-turns, ramming opposition vehicles, protecting the occupant, preventing damages to the crucial parts of the protagonist’s vehicle etc…

So after going through the above paragraphs I would like to ask you a rhetorical question. Have you ever seen Evasive Driving with your own eyes?

Well ladies and gentlemen I have. In fact every time I drive through the roads of India, I drive evasively. I am constantly honking, revving my engine, using sudden and aggressive gearshifts, using engine braking and always on the lookout for stray cattle and people apart from other vehicles. The commercial of Ceat tyres aptly sums it up — “ Streets are filled with idiots”.

Next time when you are driving in India, do remember that you are proficient in the art of Indian..err… I mean Evasive driving.
