It Was a Dark and Stormy Night

It was a dark and stormy night. The forest was filled with a chorus of yells, squeals, and groans. Groundhogs rushed around in panic, stepped on hedgehogs and with yells of a sudden fright jumped high above, hitting crowns of trees and causing acorns to cascade on the ground below exploding.

The water in a creek boiled as schools of iridescent fish rushed hither and thither, squalling and producing areas of turbulence with their broad tails. In their eyes was some longing to understand. Some fish leaped out and exploded high in the air with a blossom of colorful fireworks. Red and green shining sparkles peppered the darkness of forest slowly fading with moaning and giggles.

The moose stared with his wild and stunned eyes uncomprehendingly in front of him, seeing how patches of purple moss fluttered among the trees combining themselves into shapes of elephants. Purple elephants were spreading their wings and trumpeting victoriously ascended to the dark and stormy sky, dissolving into pink and fluffy clouds.

Stars crushed all across the sky, leaving scintillating traces. The sky was crisscrossed with a gossamer of light traces, and thunderclouds, dark and ponderous, floated slowly through the night, murmuring words of the song in Finnish. Bolts of lightning were followed by loud explosions of thunderclaps, and huge snails crawled out of their lairs, pressed their palms to their ears and screamed in delight. Everything was stirring and uncertain.

The moose walked along the path, unsteady, staggering and stumbling. Lightning bolts smashed the ground, trees, and shrubbery to his left and right, producing clouds of sawdust. Hedgehogs, raccoons, and squirrels ran in random directions, stumbling into each other. The moose saw how his antlers grew bigger. Some small creatures moved on his antlers. They were nervous and disturbed. Some drove cars and heavy trucks. Highways were choked with traffic. Piercing sounds of sirens filled the space.

Huge shining snakes crawled along the tree trunks, illuminating the night with red, orange, yellow, and pink glimpses of misty radiance. Curious heads of beavers protruded from the ground. Waves of thick fog crept through the forest, emanating a strange green light. Whenever this fog passed, everything became strange. Some melancholic music played in the dark sky above. Translucent sheets of polar lights swiftly passed through it.
