Drugs that are their own pipelines

The pipeline-in-a-pill is a drug development strategy where one drug is used for multiple indications. Some of the world’s best-selling drugs ever from Humira to Keytruda are drugs that are their own pipelines. Other strategies in the field are building a portfolio or using a platform; however, studying what features make drugs have the ability to be a pipeline themselves is valuable because it is the hardest strategy to pull off and the most impactful. The strategy also creates a very efficient drug development business: it becomes more about clinical execution than finding the next blockbuster.
