I had recently lost my job and missed 3 car payments. Now I got a letter saying that the loan is in default and that full payment of the value of the loan, which is about 13K, is due immediately. The notice says to call or make a payment. Now I have already found another job and I’ll be able to pay the past due amount plus the current months payment in three weekly installments. When I was was 19 I had my car repossed, stupid kid stuff. Now, I am responsible and paying everything on time. The only major thing is that repo. It happened over 7 years ago and the company is saying it was repoed in 2002. I have put in request to have this remove but I need evidence. Filing Bankruptcy on our car?
My husband and I have horrible luck with cars. Bought our first car together in MS and weeks after the warrenty went up the engine took a dump and we couldnt and still cant afford to fix it. So we had to buy a junker for 900. We left our broken car in storage in MS and had to move to CO for my husbands job. Now its a month after we arrived here is CO and the junker broke 3 days after we put all new tires it! We cant afford to keep fixing junk cars so we finally caved and bought a way newer 2009 Kia with a 10 year warranty today. OK…Don’t judge me. I am not a deadbeat or spent money recklessly. I am a chiropractor and became ill with a chronic illness and had no choice but to go on disability. I got approved for disability the first time I applied. However, I can see so many clients a weeks. But, my finances and medical bills piled over my head and I had more bills and living expenses than what I made total. I did not have any major credit card with high balances, my home is modest, I drive a Ford Edge. I have two girl’s as well. It was when I was sick and in the hospital and not able to work and not getting disability, I got really behind on bills. Then with disability and working a few hours a month, I could no longer pay for things. Mainly, they were personal loans from when I opened my own practice. Which was like 2 mortgages!! My bankruptcy was discharged in July. I have had 2 companies harass me non-stop and even turned me over to collections which is now on my credit report. I have a call into my attorney about this. The paralegal is faxing paperwork over to them. I did go to law school for a year and half before becoming a chiropractor. As, I recall under the old law creditors had to stop harassing you once you retained an attorney and had a case number. So, if my lawyer can stop this what legal action can I take. These people get very belligerent on the phone. Also, how do I get these collection agencies off my credit report that they turned me over to? I did talk to one collection company today and they were nice, but they told me it automatically goes on my report. I faxed them a copy of my discharge papers with the company they were representing. and now my credit report say 0.00 by their name but the fact it is still there. Much advice is needed!””

What are my options for an escrow shortage?
I purchased my home about a year ago at a very nice price. My payments for the past year have been $378, including an escrow payment for taxes and insurance. If the car is worth a starting price of about $17,000 (estimate w/o taxes & fees), I only have about half that amount. That’s why I was thinking about financing one on a payment plan. Maybe giving a down payment of $10,000 using my debit (when I save up to this amount) and financing the rest. I forgot exactly how credit cards work, and half the stuff I read online doesn’t make sense to me. I keep reading that buying a car with a credit card, even partially, can burden you on interest. But doesn’t that apply ONLY if you fail to pay at least the minimum every month?
